Founder's
Story
I am Kevin Zenwhen Liang, founder of the Center for Integral Human Regulation and developer of the Integral Regulation Framework.
I was born and educated within a Chinese cultural context and previously worked in neurosurgery and clinical medicine in China. I am also the author of three books written in Chinese that explore the foundations of this work. My current teaching reflects a cross-cultural synthesis shaped by Chinese models of human organization and sustained engagement with Western psychological thought.
I approach psychology as one lens among several, integrating it with organismic, systems-based, and moral–developmental perspectives to understand how the human self is regulated from within. Because this work bridges different intellectual languages and traditions, my teaching emphasizes clarity of structure and meaning over stylistic perfection, with the goal of conveying ideas faithfully rather than idiomatically.
I am confident this work will help you develop a deeper, more coherent understanding of the human self and apply that understanding more effectively in your work with others.
